Revised decree on employment of foreign students from third countries

The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has announced the issuance of a revised decree by the Minister of Labor & Social Insurance regarding the employment of foreign students from third countries. The decree was published in the Official Gazette on March 6, 2026.

The decree specifies the sectors of economic activity and professions where employment of third-country nationals, who are students in the Republic, is permitted. Eligibility requires students to have completed their first academic semester and be enrolled in the second semester.

For employment, students must provide:

  • A certificate of full-time study and program from a recognized institution.
  • A monthly work schedule from the employer.
  • A copy of the residence permit in the Republic.
  • An employment contract with a specific employer, certified by the Department of Labour, outlining basic employment terms.
