The HICP measures changes in consumer prices for goods and services acquired, used, or paid for by households and tourists within the country. It is calculated according to EU harmonised methodology.
From January 2026, the HICP products were revised based on the 2023 Household Budget Survey. Pricing covers urban areas of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos, with weights assigned according to population: Nicosia 40%, Limassol 30%, Larnaca 18%, and Paphos 12%.
Prices are recorded monthly for 850 items, with weekly collection for seasonal products, meat, and fuel. Prices include taxes and discounts that are generally valid.
The weights are based on household and tourist expenditure data, with the base year set to 2025=100 from January 2026. The classification used is ECOICOP ver.2.
