The Joint Committee of the European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA, and ESMA) published its Annual Work Programme for 2027. The programme outlines priorities for addressing cross-sectoral risks and enhancing coordination across the EU’s financial sector.
In 2027, the focus will be on areas where cooperation among the three ESAs is essential to support financial stability, consumer protection, and effective supervision. Key priorities include digital operational resilience, technological innovation, sustainable finance, securitisation, and cross-sectoral risk monitoring.
Under the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), the ESAs will continue oversight of critical ICT third-party service providers and work to strengthen the sector’s preparedness against cyber threats. The ESAs will also assess the implications of technological developments, including artificial intelligence and other digital innovations.
Consumer protection remains a central priority. The ESAs will continue joint efforts on issues affecting retail consumers, promoting informed financial decisions and confidence in EU financial markets.
In sustainable finance, the Joint Committee will support the consistent application of the EU’s sustainability framework across sectors.
The programme emphasizes coordinated supervisory responses to cross-sectoral challenges and aims to support a resilient, innovative, and well-functioning financial system in the EU. It aligns with the European Commission’s objectives to build an efficient Savings and Investment Union and to simplify regulation and supervision, reducing unnecessary burdens.
