Cyprus implements temporary measures for nationals outside the country unable to return

The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has announced that the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection introduced temporary measures on March 11, 2026, for third-country nationals outside Cyprus who face difficulties returning due to the situation in the Middle East and air connection disruptions.

The measures address practical issues affecting both workers and employers. The relevant official announcement from the Deputy Ministry is attached for detailed information.

Specifically, the following measures are in effect:

  • For holders of valid residence permits: Entry into Cyprus is permitted until April 30, 2026, if the individual has been outside the country for at least three months after February 28, 2026.
  • For holders of proof of receipt of a residence permit renewal application: Entry is allowed until April 30, 2026, if the application is pending or approved and the individual has been outside the country for at least three months after February 28, 2026.
  • For holders of entry permits valid between March 1, 2026, and March 31, 2026: Entry is permitted until April 30, 2026, regardless of the permit’s expiration date.

The measures are temporary and aim to manage the extraordinary circumstances caused by factors beyond the affected persons’ control. The OEB is monitoring the situation and is in contact with relevant authorities to address practical issues for businesses and employees.
