ECB and Frankfurt Radio Symphony host Europa Open Air concert on August 20, 2026

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, the European Central Bank (ECB) and Hessischer Rundfunk will host the Europa Open Air concert at Weseler Werft in Frankfurt. The event is free and aims to celebrate Europe’s diversity through music, culture, and community in a riverside setting.

The programme features the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Kurt Elling, and accordion virtuoso Richard Galliano. Additional details are available on Hessischer Rundfunk’s website.

ECB President Christine Lagarde stated, “Europa Open Air celebrates the richness of Europe’s cultural life and the connections that bring us together. Music creates a shared experience that transcends borders.”

The ECB will have an information stand focusing on the design of future euro banknotes. Visitors can view ten shortlisted design proposals based on themes “European culture” and “Rivers and birds,” participate in a public survey, and discuss proposals with ECB experts.
