The European Central Bank (ECB) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in central banking today. The signing occurred during the Bank for International Settlements meetings in Basel.
The MoU updates the previous 2015 agreement and establishes a framework for regular information exchange, policy dialogue, and technical cooperation. This may include joint seminars and workshops on mutual interests.
ECB President Christine Lagarde emphasized the importance of sustained global cooperation, stating, “It is important that we sustain global cooperation, and I am pleased to sign this MoU together with Governor Malhotra as a sign of our continued dialogue with the Reserve Bank of India.”
