High-level workshop on reducing electricity costs in Cyprus with stakeholder participation

On the initiative of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), a high-level workshop on the reduction of electricity costs in Cyprus was held, bringing together the main institutional and business bodies of the energy sector.

The workshop aimed to develop a meaningful and constructive dialogue on issues affecting electricity costs and the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy. The focus was on identifying challenges and formulating common approaches to address them.

Topics discussed included the smooth operation of the competitive electricity market, renewable energy production cuts, energy storage development, natural gas adoption, and electricity network modernization. Participants submitted opinions and suggestions to improve market functioning and reduce electricity costs for households and businesses.

OEB expressed gratitude to all participants for their high-level dialogue. Addressing high energy costs requires coordination, cooperation, and determination among all stakeholders.

Following the workshop, a meeting between OEB and the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority will be held to present laboratory conclusions and exchange views on recommendations.
