OEB affirms Cyprus remains safe for investment and tourism

The Executive Committee of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) convened in a regular session to assess the economic situation following military operations in the Middle East.

OEB affirms that Cyprus remains a safe and reliable destination for international investments, business activities, and quality tourism. Maintaining economic stability, security, and smooth functioning is a top priority.

The Cypriot economy has demonstrated resilience in recent years, proving strong institutionally and operationally despite regional and international crises.

Sectors related to tourism and export activities to the Gulf and Middle East, including pharmaceutical industries, face challenges which will be managed prudently and efficiently.

Cyprus businesses continue to operate responsibly, conveying a message of stability for the economy and the country.

The OEB appeals to all Cypriots to help clarify the country’s security situation and dispel false international impressions. Recommendations include lowering public debate tone, refocusing on daily issues, and returning to normality promptly.

OEB also calls for the immediate resumption of postponed EU meetings and events, based on an accurate risk assessment. The President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Pantelidis, will personally present this request during a meeting in Brussels on March 18 with EU leaders, including Ms. Ursula von der Leyen and Mr. Antonio Costa.

OEB will continue monitoring regional developments and actively contribute to public debate to ensure economic stability, protect business activity, and promote sustainable development in Cyprus.
