The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has expressed deep disappointment and concern over the postponement by the Parliamentary Committee on Health of two legislative amendments submitted by the Minister of Health. These amendments aim to facilitate the employment of nurses from third countries.
OEB highlights that the health system is facing severe nursing staff shortages, and the inability to pass measures to mitigate this issue causes significant dissatisfaction among health service providers.
The federation considers it particularly troubling that trade union pressures have prevented the examination and approval of the government bill, overriding the fundamental right of patients to access quality care and the need for the health system to operate smoothly.
This development may lead to restrictions on health services or even the suspension of clinics and hospitals, as OEB has previously warned.
In response, OEB will convene an immediate broad meeting of the affected health sector bodies to assess the situation and decide on next steps and measures. The organization emphasizes that everyone must now assume their responsibilities.
