The Education, Training and Talent Attraction Committee of OEB, chaired by Mr. Yangos Hadjiyiannis, held a meeting with the Management of the Human Resources Development Authority (HRDA) on May 5, 2026. This meeting was part of ongoing contacts between the Commission and relevant bodies on education, skills development, and enhancing Cyprus’ human resources competitiveness.
Discussions focused on labor market challenges related to skills gaps and the need for targeted actions to upgrade and retrain human resources. The HRDA presented its current and upcoming activities, emphasizing programs for individuals aged 15-29 and the pilot project “Individual Learning Accounts”.
Special emphasis was placed on strengthening digital skills, promoting lifelong learning, the importance of single-company training programs, and aligning education more closely with labor market needs.
Potential synergies between the Commission and HRDA were also discussed, aiming to develop practical solutions to support businesses and optimize the utilization of human resources in the country.
OEB continues to actively participate in shaping modern education and training policies that address economic and labor market requirements.
