OEB Education Committee meets with CYQAA to discuss higher education and skills development

The Education, Training and Talent Attraction Committee of OEB, chaired by Mr. Yiangos Hatzigiannis, held a telemeeting with the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA) on May 7, 2026.

The meeting focused on issues related to education, skills development, and enhancing the competitiveness of Cyprus’ human resources. Topics discussed included the connection between higher education and labor market needs, upskilling of human resources, and the development of flexible learning methods.

Participants also discussed attracting and retaining young talent in Cyprus, strengthening the international competitiveness of higher education by attracting international students and specialized professionals, and the importance of vocational training and technical professions. The need for continuous upgrading of the education system to meet modern labor market demands was emphasized.

OEB continues to promote dialogue and cooperation with relevant bodies to develop modern education and skills policies that support the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy.
