OEB participates in ILO technical committee on AI in manufacturing

The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) participated in meetings of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) technical committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Manufacturing Industry, held in Geneva.

The committee, in which OEB was represented by Marcos Kallis, examined how AI affects productivity, employment, skills, working conditions, and industry transition.

OEB contributed to the international dialogue on the future of work in the era of AI, representing Cypriot business interests as part of a small delegation of employers.

The discussions focused on practical issues for businesses and the labour market. The final document includes guidelines on:

  • The need for coherent AI and industry policies
  • Enhancing productivity and innovation
  • Skills development and lifelong learning
  • Support for small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Strengthening social dialogue
  • Upgrading digital infrastructure
  • Improving access to finance
  • Protecting personal data
  • Promoting inclusion

OEB emphasized the importance of a balanced, realistic approach to AI adoption that ensures business competitiveness and sustainable development, while supporting employee skills upgrading and adaptation to new technologies.

Participation in high-level international tripartite committees highlights OEB’s recognition at both European and international levels.
