OEB president meets UK High Commissioner to discuss economic and tourism relations

The President of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), Mr. George Pantelides, held a meeting with the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Cyprus, Mr. Michael Tatham CMG. The meeting was attended by the Director General of OEB, Mr. Michalis Antoniou, and Ms. Elena Orphanides, Director of Trade at the British High Commission in Nicosia.

Discussions focused on expanding trade, increasing investments, and developing business partnerships between Cyprus and the United Kingdom. The importance of the British market for Cypriot tourism was emphasized, along with the need to maintain positive growth in arrivals from the UK.

The High Commissioner stated that Cyprus remains at the lowest level of the UK’s travel advice, with no restrictions or travel advisories. British authorities confirm that British citizens continue to choose Cyprus confidently, indicating the country remains a safe and reliable tourist destination.

Data from Hermes Airports shows about 30 inbound flights from the UK daily, with occupancy rates exceeding 90%, reflecting ongoing confidence in Cyprus from the British market.

The meeting concluded in a positive atmosphere, with a shared commitment to further strengthen cooperation between Cyprus and the United Kingdom in areas of mutual interest.
