Property Developers Association highlights real estate development as a key driver for Cyprus progress

The Property Developers Association held its Annual General Meeting successfully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. The President of the Association, Mr. Yiannis Misirlis, stated that the real estate development sector is a pillar of the Cypriot economy and a driver of progress for the country.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Constantinos Ioannou, representatives of political parties, officials, and high-ranking executives of business and professional associations. Greetings were delivered by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, on behalf of the President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Pantelides, the former President of OEB, Mr. Giorgos Petrou, and the General Director of KOAG, Ms. Eleni Symeonidou.

Mr. Misirlis highlighted that despite recent challenges, the real estate development sector remains a key driver of prosperity and progress for Cyprus. He emphasized the importance of continuing the country’s strategic response to challenges, particularly addressing affordable housing as a major social issue. He noted that Cyprus, during its upcoming EU presidency, can contribute significantly to tackling this problem and expressed the Association’s readiness to support this effort.

The President also mentioned progress in institutionalizing the profession of Land Development Entrepreneur, describing it as an initiative that promotes professionalism, market transparency, and national credibility.

Regarding the green transition, Mr. Misirlis stated that the industry is prepared to lead efforts with the support of the state. He concluded by thanking the President of the Republic and the Minister of Interior for their cooperation and expressed confidence in Cyprus’s potential for growth and innovation through collaboration and determination.
